There is ongoing debate over whether technology has made people’s daily lives easier or whether it has introduced additional complications. I believe that technological advancement has made people’s lives considerably easier and more productive, although excessive reliance on it can have certain drawbacks.
One major advantage of technology is that it has made communication considerably faster and more accessible. Digital platforms allow people to exchange information instantly, regardless of their geographical location, while automated tools can also reduce the time required to complete routine tasks. For example, social-media platforms enable individuals to maintain relationships with friends and relatives who live abroad without the expense and inconvenience associated with traditional forms of communication. Consequently, technology has significantly improved both personal connectivity and productivity.
On the other hand, excessive dependence on technology can have detrimental effects on people’s physical and psychological well-being. Spending prolonged periods in front of screens can encourage sedentary behaviour and reduce the amount of time people devote to exercise or face-to-face interaction. For instance, young people who consume social-media content for several hours each day may become less physically active and find it harder to concentrate on demanding tasks. Consequently, although technology can enhance productivity, its excessive use may undermine people’s health and social development.
In conclusion, technological advancement has brought substantial benefits in terms of communication and productivity, despite its potential negative effects on health and social interaction. I therefore believe that technology is overwhelmingly beneficial, provided that it is used responsibly and in moderation.
