There is a growing trend for the vast majority of people to believe that to broaden juveniles’ understanding of the world is to encourage them to travel to other countries. I completely agree with this statement and I will support this view in the following paragraphs. Furthermore, adding to school curriculum subjects that focus on intercultural customs and relations will be an effective way to build new perspectives for the young generation.
To start with, travelling to countries abroad creates opportunities for young people to experience a new environment where they can get familiar with living conditions and customs of the local population living there. Moreover, immersing themselves in foreign environments often improves language skills and cross-cultural communication. It creates first-hand experience for young people to get out of their comfort zone ,which helps to develop soft and hard skills .They will be able to adapt to new surroundings and solve problems on their own , thereby developing adaptability . Travelling allows individuals to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. This, in turn, enhances cultural awareness.
On the other hand, students can develop their worldview by attending classes or joining organizations which focus on multiple aspects of self-development. Nowadays, there are many student clubs in universities where they can work on projects that align with their interests and work towards their goal. Not only does student clubs foster open-mindedness and understanding the world, but it also creates confidence. By collaborating with like-minded peers from diverse backgrounds, students are exposed to different perspectives and ways of thinking, thereby enhancing their critical thinking skills. Moreover, participation in such organizations encourages active engagement with global issues, such as environmental sustainability or social inequality, which contributes to a deeper understanding of the world. Consequently, these experiences can be as effective as international travel in shaping young people’s global awareness, particularly for those who lack the financial means to study or travel abroad.
To conclude, travelling abroad is highly effective to develop a broader outlook but there are also other measures that can be done for gaining a deeper understanding of the world including educational programs and student-led initiatives, which also play a significant role in fostering global awareness.
