In the modern world, technology is an important part of peoples’ lives. Some people argue that it makes the gap between rich and poor people wider. Others think that it helps to make society equal. I will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On the one hand, wealthy individuals use advanced devices such as the newest computer, smartphones and artificial intelligence tools which help to improve their business and make a lot of money. For instance, big companies can utilize modern technology to develop their productivity and profits,while small companies don’t have enough money to afford it. As a result, it creates a difference in income and opportunities.
On the other hand, others state that it helps to make an equal society. All people can use technology to study. For example, the internet allows people from poor backgrounds to access free education and information. Many individuals can learn online and even work remotely. This supports them to find high-stake jobs and change living standards. In addition, cheap smartphones and public WI-FI helps to stay connected to the internet regardless of financial ability.
In my view, technology itself is not the problem, the issue is how it is distributed. If the governments and individuals make it more affordable and provide training for poor people, it can reduce inequality rather than increase.
In conclusion, I personally believe technology has the potential to reduce social inequality, but only if it is made available for all members of society.
