Watching TV is thought to be detrimental to children for some people. I completely agree with this argument for two reasons.
Firstly, eyesight is the most popular reason among people. Sitting in front of a screen for a lot of time affects children’s vision badly. That is because at their age eyes will develop biologically fast, and they can be damaged easily if they do not get enough nutrition or spend it fast. For example, recently, many children in my country started suffering from this problem because of the popularity of TV and lack of supervision from parents. As a result, one-fifth of all children wear special glasses, and this trend will only grow in the future.
Secondly, TV can distract children from their education and ruin their mental health. The reason is that TV will give dopamine easier than education or daily routine. Thus, children will watch TV by sacrificing their homework. They can also encourage friends to do the same. Even worse, they can see scenes that are violent and without any censorship and harm their mentality. For instance, some kids watch banned contents, without warning elders. As a result, they can repeat things they watched, and they can harm others and even suicide themselves.
In conclusion, I believe that TV has more detrimental sides than beneficial ones. It will halt children’s development of vital skills that will be useful in their future life. Also, I recommend parents watch after their kids, and lower the time spent on TV.
