Band 8+: Some teenagers are not engaged in reading. While others are mesmerised by enchanting stories. Discuss both arguments and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary era of modern technology, teenagers are totally involved in gadgets and devices, using all the advancements of the Internet. With the pervasive influence of this movement, a number of young people are no longer engaged in reading paper books, encyclopedias, and journals, while others are still fascinated by breathtaking page-turners. Both points of the issue will be scrutinized before formulating a balanced conclusion.

Regrettably, the overwhelming majority of young people do not find paper books a product of their time. Instead of the sight of youngsters being captivated by reading intriguing and sophisticated books, we are more likely to observe young individuals being fixated on their smartphones’ screens. Evidently, this tendency is already inherent to our society. Therefore, in many instances, children and students do not even grasp the excitement of reading a gripping and compelling story.

On the other hand, there are still numerous bookshops in major cities, attracting a wide readership of citizens and tourists with their macabre and lugubrious or dazzling and highbrow bestsellers. Thus, it underscores that even in our ever-evolving and fast-paced world, people still seek an opportunity to get into reading. It makes it clear that reading is deemed essential and inspiring for young individuals.

In sum, throughout the centuries, people have gained new knowledge and insight from literature; however, nowadays we are provided with new sources of information on the internet. Consequently, the use of paper books has considerably tanked. Fortunately, in spite of the indisputable ubiquity of e-books, websites, and other internet services, reading remains a high priority and value among many adolescents. From my personal perspective, nothing will replace the lightweight bedtime reading of an undemanding or tongue-in-cheek novel.
