Education is really important because it helps individuals build a better future and achieve success in life. Nowadays, some believe higher education should be free for everyone, while others feel paying tuition fees makes learners more serious about their studies. I think both opinions have valid reasons.
Many support free higher education because not every family can manage expensive college costs. There are many talented and hardworking youngsters who stop continuing their studies due to financial difficulties. If courses are free, they can focus more on learning instead of worrying about money. It can also benefit the nation because educated citizens contribute in many fields such as medicine, engineering, science, and teaching. In addition, low-income and middle-class families would feel less financial burden.
On the other hand, paying fees can make learners value education more. When someone spends money on studies, they usually become more responsible and focused. They may attend classes regularly, work harder, and avoid wasting opportunities. Colleges and institutions also require funding to provide good classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and experienced teachers. Without proper financial support, the quality of teaching and facilities may decline.
In my opinion, higher education should be affordable for everyone, but making it completely free may not be practical for every country. Governments should provide scholarships and financial assistance for those who cannot afford the costs. This would help deserving learners continue their studies without too much stress while maintaining the quality of education.
