Band 9: “success is often measured by wealth and material possession.Do you think wealth is the best measure of success? What makes a successful person.”

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s world, success is frequently associated with financial prosperity and material wealth. Many people believe that having a luxurious lifestyle is the ultimate sign of achievement. However, I do not believe that wealth is the best measure of success. This essay will explore why financial status alone does not define success and discuss the key attributes that make a person truly successful.

While wealth can be an indicator of success, it is not the only or the most accurate measure. Some individuals may inherit wealth without working for it, while others may amass fortune through unethical means. Moreover, many successful people, such as teachers, scientists, and social workers, may not be rich but contribute significantly to society. For example, Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa were not wealthy, yet they are regarded as some of the most successful figures in history due to their impact on humanity. Therefore, success should be evaluated based on a person’s achievements and contributions rather than just their financial status.

True success is determined by personal fulfillment, positive impact on others, and the ability to achieve goals. A successful person is someone who is happy, respected, and leaves a lasting impression on society. Qualities such as hard work, dedication, resilience, and integrity contribute to long-term success. For instance, inventors like Thomas Edison and Steve Jobs achieved success not merely through wealth but by revolutionizing technology and improving people’s lives. Furthermore, individuals who have strong relationships, good health, and a sense of purpose are often considered more successful than those who are rich but unhappy.

In conclusion, while wealth and material possessions can be indicators of success, they are not the best measures. True success is defined by a person’s contributions, personal satisfaction, and the positive impact they have on others. Therefore, qualities like determination, kindness, and innovation should be valued over financial wealth when assessing success.
