Recently, many youngsters are being influenced by various celebrities, known as ‘role models’. Although there are undeniable drawbacks of this phenomenon, I remain convinced that it has a positive influence on the youth’s personality.
When it comes to the detrimental sides of this situation, one can be justified in claiming that some well-known people present their curated personas rather than their real selves. In other words, they pretend themselves as ideal figures and conceal their weaknesses and faults, in order to preserve their fame and reputation. This, in turn, could prompt severe occasions. For instance, many celebrities post only their joyful times while hiding their flaws and struggles, all of which makes young individuals feel dissatisfied about their lives. As a result, they may encounter lower self-confidence and different life issues.
However, I believe that advantages of these role models outweigh the mentioned drawbacks. Admittedly, a lot of celebrities are positively shaping young people’s personality by promoting valuable qualities, such as integrity, discipline and resilience. For example, they might engage in donations to charities and encourage young generations to be sympathetic and merciful. Moreover, they may inspire the youth to accomplish successful achievements. Celebrities post numerous online content, be it videos or photos that emphasize constant effort and dedication, ultimately motivating individuals to be ambitious and diligent. Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba can be an epitome. In one of his interviews, he encourages young entrepreneurs to embrace failures and remain optimistic as sustained success includes failures. Consequently, young people’s self-confidence and motivation improve, leading to successful achievements.
In conclusion, despite the argued downsides of the role models, I firmly believe that their advantages – promoting important values and motivating youngsters – carry more weight.
