People tend to hold differing views about whether a new language should be invented for worldwide communication purposes or not. While some believe that it is a spectacular way to make communication easier with people in all countries, others, myself included, believe that there are some negative impacts of this decision.
On the one hand, it can be argued that there are two clear benefits that a global language can bring. The first advantage is that people can understand and access more information without language barriers. By using the same language, it is practical for people all over the world to approach knowledge. They do not need translations and can understand sentences in every circumstance. When people have the same language, they can more easily share their ideas, experiences, and knowledge on all social media platforms. Additionally, it can be a useful tool for working efficiently. Without wasting time reading documents in unfamiliar languages, people can now work more conveniently and not worry about language barriers. For exported goods, this has a huge positive impact from transportation to exportation.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that the importance of preserving different languages must not be underestimated. Firstly, learning the same language can cause great damage to all nations in terms of their culture, heritage, ethnicity, and even democracy. Each nation has different customs and traditions which people should respect and appreciate. Using the same language can cause people to lose the cultural values that earlier generations sacrificed to protect in order to bring peaceful nations. Secondly, people may face more conflicts with each other because everyone struggles with different perspectives, which is problematic.
In conclusion, although I acknowledge that a new language could be invented for communication purposes, I contend that it would be difficult for people to protect their national culture, customs, traditions, and heritage. A balance should be struck between the two to achieve the best outcome.
