Band 7+: TASK 2: Some people think that we should invent a new language for international communication. Will the benefits of this outweigh the problems associated with it?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

All in all, while the idea of a new language can lead to some problems like cutural erotion, I believe that the benefits of this idea will outweigh the problems associated with it.

In today’s world, with the rise of globalization, communication between cultures has become more important than ever, and many people believe that inventing a new global language can easily address this problem. In this essay, I will discuss its aspects and explain why I think that the benefits will surpass the drawbacks associated with it.

On the one hand, creating a new international language can lead to several problems. If a single language becomes dominant, others will disappear, leading to the loss of unique cultural heritage. Researchers have found that roughly 400 languages have gone extinct in just a century—an average of one every three months—and this trend shows no signs of stopping in the future. Moreover, with many advancements in technology, learning a new language seems unimportant to some people. For example, translation apps and AI-powered technologies allow tourists to communicate effortlessly with locals without speaking their language, reducing the necessity of adopting a new language.

On the other hand, many people, including myself, support the idea of inventing a new international language. Firstly, people who are proficient in a global language could have greater opportunities in education, employment, and overall success. Secondly, it can eliminate language barriers, resulting in cross-cultural understanding and strengthening international relations. Lastly, language plays an important part in global trade. Effective communication ensures smooth negotiations and prevents misunderstandings between business partners. So, creating an international language could significantly boost economic growth and global commerce.

All in all, while the idea of a new language can lead to some problems like cultural erosion, I believe that the benefits of this idea will outweigh the problems associated with it.
