Band 7+: The educational problems faced by Indonesia to be a big country

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

To perceive a victory, a nation is supposed to put more concern on education. This is an undeniable factor for a nation, since all life sectors will reach their peak if the quality of the human resources is sufficient. Thus, the only way to assure a nation’s success probability is by considering the quality of its education. An advanced country seems to have a high educational standard, where most of its researchers and scientists’ publications become worldwide references. However, Indonesia still stays away from the right track due to some drawbacks that must be dealt with, such as the educational facilities gap and a differing implemented curriculum between urban and rural schools.

First and foremost, the huge gap among schools has been becoming an acute problem in Indonesia for many years that blocks the country’s acceleration to keep moving forward. Schools in the urban areas tend to get an enormous portion of funding from the government compared to those that are in rural areas. In fact, the amenities offered by schools in the city really support the teaching and learning process. As a result, the outcome in the city seems likely to be superior to remote schools. In contrast, in rural areas where the equipment of schools is adequate, there is a gigantic knowledge gap among students. Thus, figuring out this case must be deployed by decision makers to make betterment soon.

Another constraint faced by Indonesia to have a better education is the various differing implemented curricula across the country. The continuous change of curricula from time to time made by the ministry of education carries out huge problems for many schools. Take an example: in many isolated places with less supportive educational facilities, the school cannot effectively implement the curriculum in the teaching and learning. Moreover, the lack of teachers’ quality makes this situation worse. Therefore, the government must allocate an amount of money for completing both academic and non-academic infrastructure. The most important thing is that the government must generate policies that support the enhancement of isolated schools.

To sum up, becoming an advanced country whose prosparous life in all sectors is dreamt of by many nations across the world, including Indonesia. However, this aspiration seems a bit difficult to achieve because the government and Indonesian people must collaborate to deal with major problems that block the country for so long, namely the educational facilities gap and a differing implemented curriculum between urban and rural schools. I do believe by addressing those drawbacks, Indonesia can be more competitive and has the power to play a significant role in the midst of unstaple global politics.
