Nowadays, the issue of obesity rate is being discussed more widely than ever and some people suggest that school curriculum should contain abundant lessons of physical education. As for my view, educational institutions can potentially decrease the obesity issue by providing an appropriate environment for exercising and ensuring every single student finishes their physical assignments.
Schools are an ideal location for the youth to engage in any type of sports activities. With the abundance of peers inside the classrooms, available sports equipment and facilities, pupils are more fascinated in participating in team sports to compete with others. Rivalry competition always strongly appeals to young individuals since all of them are willing to earn the satisfaction gained from victories or out-performing others. As children make all the efforts to win the game, they burn a large amount of energy after only a short period which is a key in hindering the process of gaining extra weight. Compared to after school when children are surrounded with no friends, they are discouraged to perform physical activities due to lack of motivation. Ultimately, all the mentioned factors from schools largely contribute to the reduction of the obese population.
Every pupil is given adequate time and space for performing outdoor exercises with the scheduled timetable. Since physical activities are the most effective and cheapest method for combating obesity, schools would put the emphasis on developing tactics to encourage pupils to stay active. With the existing disciplinary rules and regulations used to make sure students follow the instructions, it is even easier for campaigns like this to harness positive results. It is clear that the school system plays an important role in guiding the youth to avoid being overweight.
In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, I would argue that implementing more physical education lessons at education institutions would reduce the risk of being overweight since schools contain an ideal environment and all students have to obey the given instructions.
