In recent times, people have started to realize how crucial biodiversity is as a significant number of species have started to face the risk of going extinct. However, there are several solutions to retain biodiversity.
Firstly, causing any harm to endangered species should be highly prohibited. In other words, the animals in this group should not be allowed to be hunted, while cutting or picking up endangered plants should be banned as well. Thus, society may mitigate the issue. For example, in Africa, local people used to hunt down a unique fox kind. After a certain period of time, the number of these foxes decreased to 100 in the entire continent. Therefore, the governments in the region have banned killing them recently, and according to recent research, their number has shown a significant increase since the regulation.
On the other hand, besides this approach, humankind should also stop occupying the natural habitats of these species. As well-known, society tends to expand its settlements, and this causes the habitats of endangered species to be devastated. Hence, their chances of survival considerably decrease because they become obliged to abandon their places and live under the conditions that are not suitable for them. For example, boars have started to appear on main roads across the world because of deforestation, which resulting in their deaths due to being run over by cars.
In conclusion, the importance of biodiversity has been understood by humanity because a rising number of species are likely to go extinct in the next couple of years. However, there are some feasible methods to tackle the problem, such as protecting these species from being harmed by people or not occupying their habitats by expanding the existing settlements.
