With the advent of technology innumerable alterations occurred. The Internet is believed to be the root of people’s seclusion from their society. From my point of view, I oppose the matter owing to the benefits in terms of communication and knowledge acquisition that the Internet offers.
First and foremost, I would argue that the technology, especially the Internet, is one of the most powerful facilitators in communication. Numerous websites, at the moment, such as Instagram, WhatsApp or Snapchat furnish much faster and more convenient services for users to keep in touch with their close-knit friends and relatives regardless of geographic distance. Indeed, these websites create an online network which connects everyone within their users’ social circle and enables them to send instant messages or to make video/audio calls in a few seconds no matter where they are as long as they have a signal. People, therefore, can enjoy not only the convenience, but also the swiftness that those services provide.
Secondly, I am on the notion that the Internet has empowered people to acquire more awareness about their surroundings than ever before. As a matter of fact, it is able to bring every aspect of life to people, which I think is valuable because citizens will have a closer look at how their society really is. As to news, sports, education or crimes, they are updated constantly in many online services that are open to everyone. This easy accessibility equips individuals with sufficient information. Imagine if you live in any country, you can understand immediately what is happening in another country by media; which means they are more aware of the problems lying within the world.
However, it seems that the Internet causes some occasional damages to people in their lives like less activity or obsession with their cutting-edge technology. In simple terms, if you use something for a long period of time, you just cannot put it down and you might even get addicted to it. Similarly, when you are used to doing it, one will probably have not the luxury of time to go outside and get some activities done, while it is not always the case. Hence, living a sedentary lifestyle and being glued to the screen of some digital gadgets results from the era in which technology exists.
In conclusion, as the analyzed reasons above, I strongly disagree with the idea that the Internet users are drifting away from their personal lives because of the online services.
