Several individuals claim that the use of mobile phones is similar to smoking in terms of how antisocial they are; therefore, it should be forbidden like smoking. Even though it could be beneficial to a certain extent, I still agree with the perspective that this ban for mobile phones is not essential.
On the one hand, there are numerous reasons why it is believed that cellphones should be banned, with the primary one being social isolation. Some studies suggest that over 70 percent of people now own a phone, along with the development of social media such as Facebook or Instagram that lead to the overuse of mobile phones. As a consequence, people tend to spend their time immersing themselves in social media such as Facebook or Instagram instead of communicating with others, even when they are in public space. Ultimately, this results in social isolation and numerous psychological problems like autism and depression, as well as a final belief that cellphones should be banned.
On the other hand, I still believe that not allowing individuals to use mobile phones in a certain place is an unnecessary ban due to several reasons. The key one is that mobile phones might play a crucial role as a tool for work, especially when individuals have to keep contact with their clients or colleagues everywhere. For instance, the Minister of Defense could order their soldiers to reduce the damage of natural disasters in Vietnam while he was attending the Congress Meeting. As a result, since using cell phones in community places is still helpful in numerous cases, it should not be forbidden.
In conclusion, while using mobile phones can be antisocial like smoking to a certain extent, I still agree that its benefits outweigh its drawbacks. Since it might be helpful to stay connected with others if it is necessary, they should not be banned in the way which is similar to cigarettes.
