Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: The world should have only one government rather than a national government for each country. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, there is a debate about whether the world should have only one government than each country having its own. Some people think that the world should be ruled by one global authority. I believe that the disadvantages of having one global government outweigh its advantages.

On the one hand, a single world government could ensure global currency stability. There would be no difference in exchange rates or conversion fees among nations, which could make international trade more easy.

People also could buy products or services from other countries without worrying about currency values. For instance, if all countries used the same currency under one global authority, some investment companies such as BlackRock could trade and invest internationally without worrying about exchange rate fluctuations. Thus, this situation could help the world economy grow.

However, one global government lead to the loss of national identity and cultural diversity. Each country has its own identity and unique cultures, and one global policies may not fit every country values. For example, a small country with strong cultural traditions, such as Indonesia, might be forced to adapt to global rules that do not reflect local values, which could weaken its national identity and disappear its cultural values.

To conclude, a single world government could establish global currency stability. Whereas, it leads to the loss of national identity and cultural diversity. Hence, the drawbacks are more significant than its benefits.
