In recent years, there are fewer occasions when families sit down to meals together. This essay will explore two of these factors behind this decline and explain why this trend is seen as adverse.
Of all of the various components which lead to family members sharing fewer meals ,one is their increasingly busy schedule. For instance, while childrens schedule is often full of extracurricular activities which leads to the lack of free time to spend it with sharing a meal with family. Parents who work in shift schedules , such as:nurses, doctors, police officers and firefighters often work long and irregular shifts, including nights and weekends. This makes it challenging for them to coordinate meal times with their families.Another significant factor is technological distractions. In other words, the widespread use of smartphones, tablets, and other devices during meals can disrupt family interactions, making it less likely for families to gather around the dinner table. For instance, the Times shows that the frequency of family dinners has gone down by 33% in the last two decades ,because of the influence of technology.
In my opinion, this phenomenon demonstrates negative progress since this way individuals may face the deficiency of attention. For example, scarcity of contact with family members leads to the insufficiency of nursing and weaker bond.Consequently, children who lack close family connections are more prone to experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress due to feelings of isolation and loneliness. This can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as substance abuse.
In conclusion, this shift in family dynamics has negative consequences, potentially leading to social isolation, emotional difficulties, and unhealthy behaviors. Encouraging families to prioritize shared mealtimes can have a positive impact on their well-being and strengthen their relationships
