Band 5+: Topic: Children are now less active in their free time than in the past. There fore, sports lessons must be compulsory in schools. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, youngsters are spending most of their pastime on video games and screen time which leads them to be less active and may cause laziness in them. I firmly believe that athletic classes should be a mandatory subject in pupils’ curriculum.

Some people may not agree with this concept. I guess it is because they suppose maybe their kids are not interested or don’t have talent in sports, However, I believe this is not a problem that schools can’t solve. Schools can grow interest in schoolchildren by providing various sports classes, such as football, volleyball, Swimming, and even dancing Classes. Another reason for this belief I suppose is they value more to other subjects like science or math, while I believe being active in their leisure time will help them to become fresh and ready their mind to understand difficult lessons.

On the other hand, I have a total different view. Firstly, Sport could be the best off-hours activity for children as they can improve our little ones’ well-being both mentally and physically. What I mean is, that these activities help them to keep moving, they also prevent them from serious diseases such as obesity, in addition, make them to be socialize and learn teamwork skills. Secondly, participating in sports matches assists them in having discipline and training to think critically.

To sum up, I insist on adding athletic lessons to the offspring’s school schedule and it must be compulsory. We can improve youngsters’ interest in sports lessons, as it can help them to be in a physical and mental health state.
