It is argued that the death penalty is vital to discipline crime in the community, however, without capital punishment, the crime will increase, and people’s lives will be less safe. From my perspective, I strongly disagree with this statement because they should be given another chance.
First of all, killing a person for some act violates human rights. The right to life is a fundamental right because without it, enjoyment of other rights is not possible. For instance, methods of execution, death row conditions and shooting, these cruelties are inhumanity or degrarding treatment or even tortune. Therefore, it may affect certain groups, inflicts physical and psychological torment and does not resolve the root causes of crime.
Second of all, from my perspective, they should be given another opportunity to live in this world. By giving others a second chance, it sets a precedent for all relationships; to allow everyone the freedom and safety to simply be human. For instance, if someone is a street criminal and snatches mobile phones, wallets, cars or other valuable items, they should be put in prison for some years or another alternative punishment would have been to condemn to hard physical labour for a limited period until they reformed their behaviour. Thus, they will realize what they have done and will not commit again.
To sum up, the penalty of death should not be a significant punishment to control the suspects, however, other important roles need to be played in society to overcome this issue.
