It goes without saying that music has always had a profound impact on every society and culture all over the globe and whether it has a deleterious or beneficial effect on individuals, even in a limited way, is of the controversial issues specially where I lived Iran as a Muslim society. I am going to discuss both viewpoints and eventually state where I am standing on this debate.
In this day and age when people are inundated with tons of bad news and tremendous amount of pressure, it is key to learn how to manage our stress level in our everyday life. In this vein, stress management has always been regarded in many companies as soft skills that allow workers to be at their level best. According to a great number of extensive studies conducted by top-notch universities, music can help people gain inner peace and control everyday pressure. Obviously, it is the main catalyst for the peace in mood and mood. Although, various types of music can initiate different impressions and emotions on people specially teenagers, I think it is safe to say that all in all they are constructive and soothing for many and can definitely put us in a good mood.
Nowadays, more and more people have difficulties managing their angers. A considerable number of crimes occur due to flying off the handle at the very beginning of the conflict. Had music been promoted for those criminals, possibly they could have been the charge of their impulse sudden emotions and wouldn’t have committed such horrible crimes. Therefore, music can help the whole society in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and preventing social unrest or even civil war!
At the other end of the spectrum, others might argue that, volatile teenage behavior is often rooted in being exposed to toxic music. Even though, music is calming by nature, some sorts of music which is prevailing these days are nowhere near as informative and relaxing as they are expected to be. Everybody is emphasizing about the importance of a good music but how about the bad ones? While certain types of music are forbidden in their perspective, others such as rock music or R and B are meaningless and destructive.
Last but not least, with the reasons stated above, I believe music can be both hazardous and constructive regarding the genres. However, generally speaking, most of them are integral to stress management and can help us be a better person in both personal and professional life.
