Nowadays, people spend considerable amount of their lives at work. Therefore, it is crucial not only to have modern and convenient workplace, but also maintain positive relationship with colleagues and clients. Modern workers went through many challenges during the last decade: competitive job market, rapid development of technologies, and Coronavirus issues led to the loss of job places and had impact on social interraction.
I completely agree that a recruiter has to pay more attention to employee’s personality than to skills on the ground that a significant part of modern professions involves communication and interaction. I acknowledge that some occupations demand highly experienced workers, such as doctors, pilots and scientist, for instance. Moreover, the manipulations of an incompetent specialist could be detrimental.
However, a significant part of modern professions does not require skillful workers with many years of experience in the beginning. If the worker is motivated enough, the appropriate experience will be gained and aquired rapidly. One of the key issues of modern companies is to provide high-quality service, which is done by company’s employees through communication with clients. Regarding that, customers make their decisions on whether to purchase the goods or not.
In addition, employers have to take into account the fact that a new worker should be a part of the team and built respective relationships with other colleagues. I can give an illustrative example from my previous workplace. There was a colleague with ten years of experience in our field, albeit she was rude with other collegues and could not accept any critisism. Therefore, she had been fired within a few months, regardless of her deep knowledge in the area.
In conclusion, hence, all individuals should not forget about professional development and pursue their career goals, social skills are playing a vital role in any company.
