It is believed that the average standard of well-being of individuals today may deteriorate in the future. I partly agree that people will become unhealthier due to environmental factors and certain lifestyle choices. However, there are other reasons, such as advancements in science and technology, that contribute to a better quality of life.
On one hand, global warming has led to the emergence of new viruses and bacteria, which can have adverse effects on physical health since people have not yet developed immunity to these pathogens. Additionally, due to increased workload and stress, many neglect their physical and mental well-being. A sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy habits like smoking, excessive drinking, and drug use are common. Lack of regular exercise and consumption of unhealthy food directly increase the risk of various diseases. For example, opting for processed foods over nutritious meals can result in health issues like food poisoning and diarrhea. Presently, both men and women experience high levels of mental stress, which can lead to conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
On the other hand, with ongoing advancements in the medical field, it has become easier to combat many diseases. Modern vaccines, medications, and treatments are now available for the management of life-threatening illnesses, enabling people to recover quickly. It is possible that future discoveries will address currently incurable diseases. There is also a greater emphasis on mental health awareness today compared to the past, contributing to an improved and enriched quality of life for individuals.
In conclusion, I believe that various factors may have a negative impact on people’s health. Nonetheless, as mentioned earlier, advancements in medical research have the potential to enhance overall human well-being.
