It is often debated that students nowadays are not interested in taking up science as a subject while in school. This essay agrees with the idea that many students are not choosing science as a subject to study in many countries.
To begin with, one reason that could cause this issue is environmental factors. That is to say, this could be because the students do not have early exposure to science due to not attending school or because their parents do not provide education or knowledge about science at home. This will lead students to not be interested in science subjects due to limited exploration of the science world and end up abandoning the subject during their studies.
Apart from that, student behavior itself can also lead to this problem. For example, according to recent studies, students lack compatibility with and interest in science due to being more interested in expressing creativity and arts rather than theory and facts about science. In addition, choosing science as a subject means facing the consequences of having a lower chance of passing the exam and scoring well, as it is very difficult and one of the hardest subjects after mathematics.
On the other hand, this will greatly impact society due to a lack of researchers, scientists, and other occupations linked with science subjects. Moreover, these related jobs are essential for a country’s growth globally and for daily needs. To sum up, it is clear that science subjects are important and should be chosen while studying, as they will have an effect on society.
