Some people think that elderly people cause dilemma for the governments, others have different views and believe that elder people have a significant number of advantages in the society. I am the belief that elderly people play an essential role in society. This essay will discuss the two views.

In the beginning, studies shows that elderly people who live for a long term after their retirements, need financial support from the government. In other words, people after their retirement do not have a source of income and they need some help from a charity or the government. An eminent example is when people retire, they get a monthly financial gift from their government. This example shows that elderly people have its drawbacks on the governments.

However, although elderly people have its disadvantages, they have a significant number of benefits. To explain, if people reach 70 years old, they will have great experience, moral and life skills. For instance, grandparents who advise their young grandchildren as well as care for them when their parents are at work. What can be seen is that elderly people play an indispensable role in the current generation.

In conclusion, this essay has shown both views of the elderly people that live around from 70 to 90 years old, it can be said that elderly people benefit outweigh their drawbacks. I reiterate my view that elderly people have great advantages as well as playing an important role in society. We should learn from elderly people their life skills.
