Giving school children homework by their teachers is an issue of debate, some believe that they should not given homewoks, while others think homewoks are crucial for education.
Initially, some people against giving children homeworks because they think that school time is sufficient. School hours in many countries is extended to 8 hours sometimes even more, so this long period of time is appropriate for teaching and assignments. In addition, giving children homework after school most probably will reduce their passion to study, and decrease the time available for themselves. For instance, a survay conducted in a western country showed that school children overwhelmed by homework and they didn’t have time to do other things.
In contract, others believe that homework plays an important role in the education of children, as they experienced this when they are children. The old teaching systems involved giving students plenty of homework to assess the education process. So, many parents want their children to have same educational process in order to get good results.
In my opinion, I think that homeworks are no longer required in education. As the teaching style nowadays different and involved less exams and assignments. My youngest brother is an example, he studied in a school where the teacher gave many homeworks, he used to hate school and studying because he spent after school time doing assignments and no time for playing and relaxing. Then, he was transferred to a new school with no homework, his performance improved significantly.
In conclusion, both systems are still exist and both have advantages, parents and children should choose which one to use.
