In poor countries, many people die from curable diseases due to lack of affordability of required medication. This problem can be solved if drug companies figure out a way to make the same products available at a lower price in those countries. I believe this can be a huge win for the underdeveloped countries and population over there.
There are still people dying on this earth from ancient disease like Polio because the medication provided in not available to them. While the developed countries has mendetory shot for this disease, people on the other side of this scale does not ever get a chance for the same medication. Nations that are not developed will already have limited resources in every area of life and to secure good future of these countries, healthy human population is needed. If phrma complanies can make cheaper medication, they will be giving theses nations human race a chance to fight, to live healthy life and to make better future for themselves.
However, there is always a worry about quality if institutions are making drugs cheaper. Drug companies also need profit to pay their employees, for their research and many more. Not only that, these companies will have to figure out medicine regulations of each country, delievery system, storage, and distribution. For example, during covid, company who made vaccine Pfizer declined to give their shots in South Africa because there were making less than 12% profit margins.
Overall, in my opinion, it is a great way to help humanity by giving cheaper medication in underdeveloped countries. Maybe there is a middle road where both countries and pharma companies get what they want. For example, fund raising campaigns or making a long term deals with governments. This could be a way to make world better place for everyone.
