In 2012, 64% of customers from Australia and 50% of customers from New Zealand chose both overseas and local websites to shop online, while making purchases only on overseas websites was less popular, with 24% and 36% of customers from Australia and New Zealand choosing foreign providers. Roughly the same amount of people in both Australia and New Zealand preferred shopping only in local online stores with 12% and 14% respectively.
In terms of reasons for shopping online, the majority of shoppers in both Australia and New Zealand were looking for lower price (59% and 51%), while shoppers from New Zealand also liked the larger range and choice (34%) and Australian customers found it more convenient (23%).
