While there is an opinion that education for the younger generation is paramount in many nations, other people think differently, saying that the state should invest in education for the adult population who are illiterate. This essay will evaluate both views and demonstrate my perspective which aligns with the former assertion.

There are justifiable reasons to believe that the national budget should be allocated for educating the old folk. Chief of these is that this approach makes a significant contribution to improve life quality for elderly, meaning that they do not have to depend on their children. This can be seen in the case of senior citizens who are instructed how to use cutting-edge technology for entertainment purposes. The implication of this is that their mental health could be enhanced and they no longer depend on their children. Added to this is the fact that the nation’s intellectuals are fostered. The prime example of this is Vietnam’s illiteracy eradication campaign in 1945. As a positive result, most of Vietnams’citizens knew how to read and write.

However, there are more compelling reasons to say that youngsters bring many merits for their country. The key reason is that the youth have better learning potential than the elderly, which improves quality of life in the future. A case in point is young persons have more time to learn and develop lastingly. This argument predicated on the fact that they become the main workforce who contribute the most effort for the government. Furthermore, initial investment costs bring many profits in the future. This can be seen in the case of people being supported from an early age until they are able to earn money and from then on when they get old, they will no longer need support. Therefore, investing in young people helps economic savings and get a lot of benefits.

In conclusion, I agree with the state should concentrate more on educating young children. This is because they would build a knowledgeable generation with abundant human resources to solve worldwide problems.
