Nowadays, we count on and rely on a variety of transportation. However, it hasn’t always been that way. For instance, the very first car appeared on British roads in 1988, by 2000 almost twice of the number of citizens ownen a vechicle.

The exponiential increase of the use of vehicle and its ownership increased significantly since the 19th century. While the convenience and personal freedom offered by cars and more types of vehichles is undeniable, the projection os 29 million vehichles in Britain, and even a more great number today, necessitates a consideration of alternative transportation. To considerable extent, I agree that encouraging alternative forms of transportation and introducing international laws to control car ownership and use are necessary towards a more sustainable and livable future.

One of the most compelling reasons to promote alternatives is the environmental impact of such a high volume of vehichles owned and used by citizens daily. The emissions contribute significantly to air pollution and this has had caused a dramatic impact on public on public health, pasticularly in urban areas. Furthermore, the reliance of fossil fuel the majority of vehichles has caused an exaggerated increase of climate change.

Moreover, the number of vechichles on the road has lead to an increasion og coogestion, specially in bigger cities. In my experience, in my hometown Culiacán, while car ownership is prevalent, the increasing traffic during peak hours highlights the need for better public transportation to cease this prevalent issue.

In conclusion, while acknowledging the benefits of personal vehichles, the escalating numbers of vehichles and their associated environmental and social cost necessited a more proactive approach. The extent to which we embrace these changes will significantly shape the quality of life in the decades to come.
