The bar chart illustrates the preferences of different age groups of Australian children for four kinds of activities: watching TV, reading, art, and riding the bike, in 2012 in the percentage terms.
Overall, most children enjoyed watching TV, while art was the least favored activities regardless of age.
It is noticable that watching TV was very popular among youngsters. The number of 5-8 years old and 9-11 years old children allocated to this activity was nearly the same, with 91% and 92%, respectively. Children in the 12-16-years-old age group watched television more, with 98%. Although 5-8 years old youngsters didn’t enjoy reading a lot (62%), 9-11 years old and 12-16 years old children showed equal interest, with 70% each.
Art was the most popular activity among 5-8 years old childrens (60%), while other age groups were less inclined toward it, with 55% of 9-11 years olds and 48% of 12-16 years old. Teenagers preferred doing sports, with 82% of 12-16 years old children riding their bikes. Youngsters who are 5 or 6 years old exhibited slightly lower interest (78%), whereas 9-11 years old children enjoyed this acitivity the least, with 63%.
