In the modern world, it is not difficult for people to have travel to other nations. From my perspective, I believe that this is a negative development for some reason.
First, in developed and developing countries, the influx of tourists can seriously affect the environment. Many tourists often litter various types of waste such as plastic bags or plastic bottles, which leads to the heavy contamination of rivers and lakes. Secondly, most tourists visit famous tourist attractions, especially those which are recognized as World Heritage. However, some tourists do not obey the rules and cause damage to these tourist attractions, such as drawing or carving. As the travel prices drop, revenues from the tourism industry will no longer be much, so the government cannot use the additional income from tourism to compensate for potential adverse implications of increased international visitors.
In addition, if travelers can afford their visit to other countries, this will lead to an overtourism which disrupts the lives of locals, due to increased traffic and overcrowded venues. There are numerous foreign visitors can result in a rise in the cost of living, as has been observed in certain famed cities like Paris or Venice. Many tourists will do not have accommodation because hotels and hostels are full. Furthermore, the consumption of energy will increase, which make electrical devices and waste management facilities work at full capacity, causing their eventual deterioration.
In conclusion, the increased ease and affordability of international travel cause many negative outcomes. Countries being visited by tourists need to spend massive sums of money to overcome these negative consequences.
