Recently, some people argue that elderly should receive financial support from governments, while others say that they have to be self-sufficient. In my opinion, although old people proactively earn money themselves, I would prefer that they deserve to get the support from the governments.
On the one hand, there are many justifications that senior citizens should receive financial support from the governmental authorities. Firstly, these people deserve to receive their pensions due to their devotion for the country’s well-being. This is because, they have spent their whole lifes to work, paying taxes and devote to country’s development in many aspect as education, health service, economy. For example, regarding teachers, professors and doctors, who dedicated most of their lives to study and touch up the quality of life. Secondly, that supporting cost could help them in their living needs. Due to their old age, it is hard for them to have a job so the subsidy may help them to pay living expense, transport. Moreover, solving some emergency accidents such as medicine or medical check up.Thus, old people may alleviate the economic burden if they receive government’s support.
On the one hand , Some argue that paying wages to aged people who stopped working is not essential and governments should invest this money in other parts. There might be more priority in which officials should spend the national budget on them . For example, in underdeveloped countries where there are not enough schools and hospitals, paying pension might be considered a last priority such as in Africa people even do not have anything to eat or drink . In these places, so, it would be better to improve their sanitation and education systems as well as facilitating hospitals. Moreover,society should be modernised in terms of transportations to make commuting much easier for every citizen. Because, If these infrastructures are not developed or even repaired, a lot of accidents might happen
In conclusion, while it is apparent that old people should actively earn money by themselves so that the government may spend the economy on schools and hospitals’ facilities. It is undeniable that they may need that supporting expense in order to develop their living conditions and have a stable life.
