The reading and lecture are both about the idea of asteroid colonization. While the author of the article argues that asteroid colonization can have many benefits, the lecturer disputes the claims presented in the article. His position is that there aren’t much benefits to asteroid colonization.
According to the reading their are major scientific advantages to asteroid colonization. The article mentioned that it can be used for scientific research because of its environments, and valuable insights. The argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that they still lack information about asteroid colonization and therefore can’t use it for research. Additionally, points out that he doesn’t know information about their surfaces
Secondly, the author suggest that their are economic growth and development associated with asteroid colonization. The article notes that this can help have job opportunities and new industries. The lecturer, however, asserts that it is not clear how many metals do we have and so we are nt sure about the economic benefits. He goes on to say that we are not sure if it’s going to cost more from the moon or on earth. Also, it might not be efficient.
Finally, the author puts forth the idea that it can help with long term survival benefits. The author contends that it can give us insists about how life formed in the first place. In contrast, the lecturer’s stance is that is might not have enough mass and therefore not enough gravity force. He says that this makes it hard to move which can lead to hurting our bones.
