Overall, the average fuel proportion of the EU increased over the period thanks to rising trends in almost all nations, except for Slovakia and Austria, which underwent a decline, and France having no change.
There was a noticeable decrease in the figure for Slovakia and Austria. Starting at over 9%, Slovakia had the highest fuel consumption, after which it fell to nearly 8% in 2010. Austria followed with 6.5% at the outset before witnessing a decline to 5% one year later. While this figure for France consistently remained at 6%.
Conversely, Poland, Spain, and Greece recorded increases when their percentages in 2009 were approximately 5%, 3%, and 1% before climbing by over 1% in the next year, respectively. This led to the rise of the average proportion of the whole European Union in fuel consumption from around 4% to nearly 5% in 2010.
