The maps illustrate the changes to the outskirts of Fosbury town between 1980 and 2015.
Overall, the area experienced significant developments, including new housing, improved infrastructure, and expanded facilities. The most notable change was the removal of the fields in the southeast.
In the northwest corner, the residential houses remained unchanged over the 35-year period. However, the park, which was originally located on the west side, was relocated to the center of the town. Its former location was replaced by terraced houses, which had previously been situated in the northeast.
In the southwest, the tennis court that existed in 1980 was incorporated into a newly built sports center by 2015. This facility included a tennis court, soccer and rugby pitches, as well as a car park. In the middle of the town, a roundabout was constructed, making transportation easier and helping to reduce traffic congestion.
On the eastern side, the grocer’s shop and the block of flats were replaced by a large car park and a supermarket. The hotel right next to the car park remained the same. In the southeast corner, the open fields were removed and replaced by warehouses, and a new road was built to provide access to them. In general, the outskirts of Fosbury became more developed and better equipped, improving convenience and functionality for local residents.
