The evolution of internet media gives rise to a variety of entertainment for users. For this reason, some argue that advanced online content would make radio a relics of the past as it only generates audio sounds. However, I completely disagree with this statement because radio has its advantage of the simplicity. Additionally, it appears that radio is widely being used in local communities.
The component of radio consists of a sound device and a receiver, which allow listener to gain general information and listen to music that radio hosts play. This simple structure becomes useful especially when users only need information such as weather forcast and traffic conditions. For instance, individuals engaging in maritime activities rely on radio to gather weather information. This is because access to online content requires internet connections that are substantially limited in comparison with radio reception that can be transmited to broad proximities including the area of seas.
Additionally, many radio programmes seem to be dedicated to locality. In other words, radio shows deliver local business advertisement and broadcast conversations with the members of communities, appealing to the local listeners. Indeed, the advertisement of radio channels are widely seen on billboards in cities and towns regardless of sophisticated, online entertainment available. These factors imply that using radio draws a clear distinction from online media in terms of their purposes and the function of radio could be still relevant to this day.
In conclusion, I strongly contend that the advantages of radio would remain unchanged in the future. Radio is simple and convenient that it easily disseminates information to audiences and its programme is specialised to local communities, serving as a necessary function in society.
