Some students prefer to take gap a year to go travelling or work rather than entry university. Despite in the fact that there are both advantages and disadvantages to their academic pathway. I believe that the advantages of a gap year outweigh disadvantages.
On the one hand, There are numerous advantages for students in taking a gap year. One of the advantages is the psychological and emotional benefits. In some of instances, as the most of students who has suffered overwhelmed academic commitment have been observed the higher rates of depression, anxiety and even suicide. Taking time off after school allows students to lessen negative effects on the mind through travelling, internship, and taking a course for personal development. Meanwhile, travelling with family or friends may strengthen the relationship between them and provoke a sense of determination for the academic path.
On the other hand, A gap year might be an opportunity to take additional time to mature. It means that many students have time for personal development. They have time to learn new language and to take courses that serve for a better quality of life. Furthermore, Travelling can be open-minded for most who are into getting to know new cultures and people from different backgrounds. Those things allow students who want to broaden their viewpoint to explore not only new aspects of their personality but also learn other people’s behaviours previously unknown to them.
Nowadays, Making a choice between taking a gap year and getting into university has become common among some students. I think that there are more advantages than disadvantages to their academic pathway. Parents and schools should encourage them to take time off due to both social and psychological benefits.
