However, some people assert that it will cause harmful effects on the way people socialise.To a certain extent, I would agree that the internet increases the opportunity to stay in touch, especially for friends and family who live apart from each other.
On the one hand, the internet allows people to stay in touch with family and friends worldwide through social media, video calls, and instant messaging. For example, platforms like Facebook and Zalo enable users to share updates, photos, and messages instantly, fostering a sense of closeness even when physically apart. This is particularly beneficial for those with family members living in different countries or friends who have moved away.
On the other hand, Rampant internet use can lead to social isolation, as virtual interactions may not be a substitute for face-to-face meetings. While online communication allows for easy connection, it often lacks the depth and emotional resonance of in-person interactions. For example, people may prefer texting to meeting for coffee, which can reduce the quality of interpersonal relationships over time. Additionally, excessive internet use can lead to various health issues such as short sightedness, sleeplessness, backache,… and obesity.
In conclusion, while the Internet undeniably enriches our ability to remain connected with loved ones across distances, it is essential to remain cognizant of its potential to encourage isolation and superficial connections.
