The pie charts illustrate information about five different reasons why students chose college/University in the UK between the years 2008 and 2017.
It is clear that the highest percentage of students selected colleges/universities of UK for suitable degree courses in the given years. By contrast, the lowest proportion of students preferred reputation of the educational institutes over the period.
In 2008, 38% of the students chose their institutions based on suitable degree courses which was the highest among the shown period. The students who selected universities for quality of teaching as well as reputations of the institutions were about 30% and 8%, respectively. Meanwhile, 17% of the students preferred proximity to parental home, a figure that is 10% higher than those who chose for sports and activities.
For the remaining year, selecting college/university based on suitable degree courses decreased significantly and stood at 32%. On the other hand, students who chose their institution for quality of teaching also decreased slightly and dropped to 26%. However, the importance of choosing universities for reputation of the institution (12%) and sports and activities (17%) increased gradually in the year 2017, while interests on proximity to parental home reduced to 13%.
