From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that apart from European and North American countries, irrigation has the lion’s share in all remaining areas while water usage for households is the lowest.
Upon more rigorous scrutiny , it can be deduced that Europe and North America spend just over and under half of their aquatic resources for industrial purposes. Following a similar trend, aquatic usage in houses are around a sixth of total for both areas. Farming has a greater importance in North America with approximately two fifths whereas in Europe is roughly a third.
Turning to the remaining parts of the world, Agriculture usage comprise the largest proportion, with Central Asia having a hefty 88% having the largest share. Southeast Asia comprised the largest among the others by 12%. South America spend a fifth of its aquatic resources for local use while areas of the eastern part of the world dedicate less than a tenth.
