Dear Sam,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to attend your birthday party this time.

As you are aware, my new job at my dream company is very hectic, and after giving tons of interviews, I have been selected for this position. This position brings not only luxury but also lots of work with deadlines. Recently, a Hyundai Company project was handed over to our team, and we have to finish it by your birthday. This coming week, we have various audits and testing lined up for the final product delivery, and I am assigned to the testing team to ensure the correct functionalities of the requirements.

I know you will be a little upset after knowing this, but do not worry; I have good news for you: I will be coming to your home for three days following your birthday week, and to compensate for my absence, I promise to bring your favorite chocolates, blueberry cheesecake, and a Parker pen. I feel these gifts will help you to forgive me for my mistake.
