Nowadays talent shows have become famous in plethora of societies. While some people reckon that these TV programs are a great method of identifying gifted people, others are sure that it’s not that simple to get the world’s recognition and these shows are created just for entertainment.
On the one hand, talent shows are the excellent opportunity for demonstrating people’s own skills, which may give lots of benefits like glory, power and authority, financial perks or even contracts with renowned companies. For instance, a famous Russian singer Klava Koka became popular due to the iconic TV program “Voice: Children” on the channel “ONT”. When she was only sixteen years old, she tried her hand at singing a popular song “After hours” which brought her a lasting fame.
On the other hand, it is better to consider these shows only as entertainment since they are not always fair. Whereas one talented individual may present their gift perfectly, other person will take his place if they just pay a huge amount of money or negotiate with the jury without any extraordinary abilities. Afterwards, individuals with a real talent might feel disappointed and get issues with their self-esteem, as it was with a popular Belarusian singer Maks Korzh. After his participation in TV program “Sing!”, the jury don’t even pass him to the second round, even though he sang without a single mistake. In consequence, he stopped composing his songs for a while, upsetting his fans.
In conclusion, although talent shows might be one of the possible ways of finding gifted people, in most cases they are absolutely unfair and fraudulent and should be considered only as entertainment program.
