Few believes that adults should follow their passion and develop their career in work they like, while other thinks they should be rational and focus on their future. I will be discussing both the aspects in this essay and will lean more towards the former.
On the one hand, youngsters like to work in the industry that matches their skills. It will not only encourage them to work, but also make them more efficient. Furthermore, they can enjoy as and when they work and get promoted more quickly. For example, Elon Musk liked automobiles industry a lot so he ended up building large companies like Tesla and Space-X which were commercially successful making him the richest man in the world. Hence, if we do what we love to do, then we will succeed, maybe not immediately, but definitely.
On the other hand, there are youths who are more concerned on shaping their future by adapting to the growing demand and opportunities. This will make them more challenging and earn handsome amount of pay-scale. However, in the long run, they tend to leave the job more frequently. For instance, the survey was conducted by the students of Harvard University and it was observed that those who focus on money tend to change their work more frequently. Therefore, those who focus on shaping their future by ignoring their personal interest will earn more but tends to switch to another company quickly.
To conclude, both following the passion and being materialistic and thinking about the future will have some advantages, however, working in the field that interests you will be beneficial in the longer run.
