Nowadays, job satisfaction was more and more important. It is beginning a major factor to a job search particularly for young graduate people. In my opinion job security is not worth more than job satisfaction in 3 mains areas.
The first area concern artists, these people sacrifice there job security to live their passion, I know one painter and I am particularly impress by his lifestyle, my friend work few hours to do a canvas, expose in a gallery sometimes in the current year and sell on average 1 or 2 works per month. He has 0 job security, if he don’t paint, he don’t have money, and overall if he paint but not sell he lost everything. But he loves what he do, he lives only with his inspiration, he travel all over the world, he don’t have a superior or work schedule. And I think lot of us want his liberty, but at what cost ?
The second area was a counterpoint, I would talk about food job, when some people was obliged to work for eat, paid bills and rent. Lot of people was concern about it. Because they don’t have other plan, these jobs was in majority difficult, often in catering, sales or cleaning professions. And these work was those nobody want do but was essential for our society. For a food job, I think, we don’t care about the job satisfaction, but the job security was the key factor.
To conclude, I not agree, I think lot of people bring importance to job satisfaction and even more the new generation, but it depends on the context of each person is situation at the time. The criteria become less and less essential as the tension increases.
