Residents in many parts of the world are leaving the countryside for city life, so the number of people who live in the countryside is declining. However, there are both pros and cons for this trend. In this essay, I will discuss about them and explain why I believe it is mainly a positive development, although it has some drawbacks.
Firstly, one of the main benefits of this trend is that it provides people with greater opportunities for personal and professional growth. They can have access to quality education, medicine and perspective job. For example, young rural people move to cities to study in the best universities on different programs or find perspective employment in modern industries. As the result, their level of living improves, and they can contribute more effectively to the economy.
On the other hand, this movement has several drawbacks for rural communities. When a large number of residents leave the countryside, there are not enough workers in agriculture and other important sectors. For instance, agriculture is a significant part of economy in many countries, so shortage of agricultural workers has bad influence on the national development. But government in a lot of countries copes with it by increasing salaries for agricultural workers and introducing new technologies.
In conclusion, migration from countryside to cities create challenges for countryside community, such a shortage of workers, but government finds solutions. Migrations also offers greater opportunities for individual growth. In my opinion, this trend is mainly positive development, as the benefits for people exceed the negative aspects.
