The visuals depict the transforamtions that have taken place in Nelson over the past years.
In the initial layout, a driving lane running from the west to east was situated in the south of the city, seperating the port from the main city. Towards the north, the central area featured a rectangular city center with an old market and a train station adjacent to its west. It is also worth noting that a university campus was constructed in the north of the city, and in the eastnorthen corner of the city, visitors could access to a forest.
Now, the first noticeable alteration is that the previous driving lane has been pedestrianized, and a restuarant, bars and clubs have been cosntructed for locals and visitors around the port area in the south. Meanwhile, bike rental schemes have been available for people in the city centre. Next to this, a new shop has been established to the west in the replacement of the previous old market, while a new covered market has been built to the east. It is also clear that the train station has been relocated between the city centre and the university, with a trainline connecting them from the south to north. Another noticeabble change is that a hall of residence has been added to the west of the university, while the previous forest has made the space for a new shopping centre. In contrast, university remains unchanged.
