Nowadays, many shops practise long-opening hours in different countries that definitely has benefits for either customers or owners of shops as it makes shopping available even after working hours. However, there are drawbacks such as loud visitors of stores at night or
One of the major downsides of working long hours in a shop can destroy the discipline of silence. The districts near shopping malls are always crowded and noisy, which can destroy residents’ sleep. For instance, to tackle this problem, in Kyrgyzstan the government implemented a strict law about limiting the opening hours of shops, cafes and bars. Another negative aspect of shops remaining open until late hours is that shop owners have to support salaries according to the working hours of employees, and wage for night shift is usually higher than in the day time. For that reason, business owners’s revenue will be lower.
On the other hand, there are also notable positives when markets are open during night hours for both sides as long opening hours can bring more customers, that means their business will run long hours. For instance, at night as usual youngsters often buy alcohol drinks that are frequently more expensive than other products. As for the local community, when markets are open they can without rushing do shopping after working hours which can facilitate employee’s life. Even if people want to buy urgent things at night, to take nappies or milk for babies, can be purchased by residents.
In conclusion, while there are some challenges like noisy streets and expenditure for business owners, however, long time working stores offer clear benefits such as availability in urgent time and helps businesses increase their revenue.
