History is one of the main subjects thought to children since they are young. Despite that, some individuals believe that focus on past events has no advantages to present’s life, whereas others think that it can provide us with important advices. This essay will expose the both point of views and show why the second attitude towards history is the better one.
On one side, some people believe that analyse historical facts doesn’t help us in today’s life. In fact, they believe that world has changed and so we should focus on nowaday’s problems and issued, instead of wasting time on focusing in history. For example, they believe that we can’t get any teachings on previous medicines, because the toward steps we made in this sectors has created huge differences from the past and present ways of healing.
On the other hand, some individuals believe that we can get advantages by studying history. In particular, they believe we can learn from it, by avoiding the mistakes made in the human history. Personally, I agree with the last analysed point of view, because I strongly believe that we can get fundamental teachings by studying historical events. In fact, history is a cycle and so it is destinated to repeat: therefore, we can know how to face a problem that has already happened in the previous centuries. For example, by analysing the past, we know how humanity tend to react to negative events, and therefore we have instruments to know how to better face a negative situation.
In conclusion, studying history is a topic that divides people’s opinion. Despite that, it’s important to take into consideration what we can learn from the past and adapt these teachings to our present life.
