Wastage of food is a major problem that has been arising almost every year and this has been a detrimental issue to handle both environmentaly and economically as the after effects are really problematic . There are many reasons for the food being wasted on higher levels and the primary cause is various functions ( marriages, birthday and many more) . Food is prepared in large amounts exceeding the actual requirement to the guests and the rest would be thrown away . The next main cause of the food wastage would be restaurants where the dishes would be prepared beforehand for the customers without having any knowledge about the requirement , if there was not much sale of food on a particular day then again there would be leftovers .
So , inorder to to reduce wastage few preventive measures should be taken up by normal citizens along with the government so that excess food would not go into the waste and the needy people can get to eat. Firstly, people whoever is arranging any party must make a note of the number of guests attending beforehand and exactly then the food must be prepared accordingly. Secondly , government bodies must ensure that schemes like mid day meals that have been initated to feed poor kids in school should be monitored regularly so that excess food would not be either misuesd or gets wasted. Another preventive measure that could be taken by food businesses are if there was any excess food left behind that must be donated to poor people instead of dumping it into trashcans.
