Band 7+: many people claim that the fast food industry had a negative effect on the environment, eating habits, and families. To what extent do you agree or disagree

It is believed by a majority that fast food has an adverse effect on nature, the way people eat, and families. I completely agree; in my opinion, fast food industries not only use more resources but are also responsible for creating more waste and hazardous fumes, and have changed eating behaviour, causing various health complications.

To embark with, there is no denying that fast food industries are liable for the environment degradation and the generation of large amount of waste, where many industries are expanding their manufacturing plants to escalate the production of fast food to cope up with growing demand, making environmental conditions more severe by not recycling resources to save operational cost and emission of harmful gas in air. For example, fast food industries use large amounts of single-use plastic packaging such as wrappers and containers that are rarely recycled. Additionally, overproduction of food leads to the wastage of water, energy, and raw materials. Therefore, it is appropriate to say that fast food industries plays crucial role in the depletion of environment.

Furthermore, it is irrefutable that health issues are associated with fast food, The easy availability of fast food encourages people to consume unhealthy meals high in fat, sugar, and salt, leading to poor nutrition. Frequent dependence on fast food has reduced home-cooked meals and promoting unhealthy habits among children. To illustrate this better, many families now choose packaged meals and takeaways instead of sitting together for home-cooked dinners. Children increasingly prefer burgers, fries, and sugary drinks over fruits and vegetables, which reflects a shift toward unhealthy eating habits. Thus, it is relevant to say that growing reliance on fast food has weakened healthy eating patterns and family meal traditions.

To conclude, it is a wise idea to reduce fast food consumption in order to protect the environment, improve health, and preserve healthy family eating habits.
